Frozen Apple VI – Insurance Lunatics with Sticks

Another Frozen Apple is in the books and it was a memorable one.   Mother nature tried her best to derail us, but we persevered and ended up with a great night.  The weather held, but for a few flurries during the final.  We were a few guys short, but that didn’t stop us either - we just went with a 4 v 4 format.  This year’s teams were:

The MDD Marys

The DBI Alices

The Crawford Alberts

The MCW Francesses

All four teams battled hard and had fun.  In game one the Crawford Alberts won a tight one against the DBI Alices with a 3-1 score (including an empty net goal at the end to ice it).  Game two saw another tight game with the Mound Cotton Fraceses upending the MDD Marys 3-0.  In the consolation game MDD ran away in the second half against DBI and won the game 5-0.  This year’s Lasker Cup was won by the Mount Cotton  Francesses with a 6-0 victory over Crawford.

All four games were refereed by the father son duo of Kerry and Ryan Fraser.  Who were awesome (although this particular goalie could have used a few quicker whistles on the rebounds . . . .).  We also had the dulcet tones of Frank “The Chairman of the Board” Zuccarello this year to give us a live version of both the US and Canadian National Anthems!  The best was watching even the folks over at the public skating session stop and pay respect during his singing!  Well Done!

After the games it was off to the bar and the fun continued.  We had some great prizes donated this year and everyone enjoyed themselves.

When all was said and done, between the individual donations and the raffle, we raised a grand total of $9,260 this year!  Well done all and thank you so much for your donations and contributions.

Special thanks to all the sponsors, Vogrin & Frimet, MDD, Mound Cotton, Crawford, DBI, Premier Insurance Services, SportsInsurance.com, Rimkus, Desimone, SCA Promotions and McLarens.  Special thank you goes out to Marguerite and Amanda - great job and thank you for the help!

Game on,

Five Hole
