Frozen Apple 9 – Feeling Fine!

This year’s rendition of the Frozen Apple was a big step back to normalcy.  We had a great turnout with over 30 players attending and an equal amount of fans and supporters!  We had lots of new faces and the “retirement” of a couple of regular players.  Although sad to see some of our regulars finally hang up the skates, it was great to see the new blood of the next generation!

While Lasker Rink in Central Park remains under construction, we were once again at Sky Rink at Chelsea Pier.  This year’s teams were:

The Mound Cotton Marys

The Crawford Alices

In another Frozen Apple hard fought battle, the Crawford Alices beat the Mound Cotton Marys by a score of 9-4.    Although it the score was a bit lopsided, the Marys didn’t got down without a fight putting up a rally in the third period before the Alices were able to pull away.  Congratulations to this year’s Crawford Alices – This year’s Lasker Cup Champions!!!

We also had some wonderful and very generous sponsors this year.  These companies deserve a big thank you!  We couldn’t do this without you.

Team sponsors –Crawford and Mound Cotton Wollen and Greengrass

Ice Time sponsors –Vogrin & Frimet, LLP, MDD, McLarens, Sedgwick and EFI

Hockey Pucks – Vogrin & Frimet, LLP

Water Bottles – MOOD&K

Other Various Handouts – Cozen O’Connor

Bar Night Sponsors – Kennedy’s CMK,, DBI, Engle Martin

The games were followed by a great bar night at Mudville 9, where we packed the house with our players and supporters!  There was some great raffle items, a lot of war stories, and lots of cheer to go around.  It’s safe to say there was plenty of bonding going on over some wings and beer!

This year we raised $8,450 for IHIH.  Well done everyone!  Thank you for your contributions and support.  Ice Hockey In Harlem is thrilled and will put it all to good use.

Thank you to all those that participated and the continued support of our little hockey game.  Keep an eye out for emails about Frozen Apple X.

Game on,

Five Hole
